Time Flies!
Were are about 80% setup!
We are preparing for a record crowd. This ought to be great!
Just a quick reminder that our LAN Party is tonight at 6:00pm. (Doors open for those with a PC at 5:30 to setup). Please remember to bring a College ID.
Console gamers-
-
See ahead how to get to the lan.
-
Read the rules page
- (Optional) Speed up check-in by printing out and completing our Liability Wavier ahead of time.
PC Gamers, to make everything goes smoothly, follow these easy steps to prepare...
-
Backup your critical files, and what you're working on like your final paper, thesis etc to an external hard drive, dvd, 5 1/4 diskette, thumb drive etc. The last thing you want is drop your computer leaving the lan and loose something important.
-
Update your computer over at Windows Update to get the latest patches
-
(optional) Update to the latest version of DirectX. These are non critical updates so most computers don't auto update it
-
(optional) Update your graphics driver. There are separate sites for Desktop users and laptop users.
- Valve caught us by surprise and is doing a Free Weekend of Unreal Tournament 3. This game is new to our LAN and this news came a bit late but we will attempt to have some sort of server running.
-
Check out these links to see if you qualify for some free games like Half-life 2 Deathmatch on steam.
-
If you don't own L4D, TF2, Counter Strike Source or Half-life 2 Deathmatch and want to play them at the LAN, Now! is the time to buy and install them before hand. Do the right thing and buy the games you want to play.
- There was a TF2 Update Last Night. Restart Steam and make sure you got it.
-
Plan ahead how to get to the lan and how you are going to fit your computer safely in your car.
-
Double check that you have everything you need to have a great night: We're not kidding that you need to bring a mouse pad.
-
Read the rules page
- (Optional) Speed up check-in by printing out and completing our Liability Wavier ahead of time.
-
Please before you pack up your computer, Test all of the games you think you might play and make sure they are fully updated and working. Internet at the LAN will be VERY slow.
- To prevent power problems at the LAN, Please attempt to alternate desktop/laptop down the tables. There is a limit 2 desktops to one of our powerstrips. We don't want a circuit breaker to trip.
- If for some reason you or neighbor doesn't have the latest update for your game at the lan, please see the help desk rather than trying to download it. We have local copies of the updates available for the games we are hosting.
Hope to see you tonight. Bring a Friend!

A new company has come out for building seriously overclocked PCs. You can read the full story here. How do you feel about companies building custom PCs for you? Would you rather just build your own? Is it worth the premium they charge? |

Quake Live is a free to play, browser based version of the classic game Quake 3. What does this say about technology when we can run a game that was the benchmark a couple of years ago in a browser tab along side otherthings going on? What would happen if we were all playing it at the LAN Party? |

What a great night. I hope everyone who came had a lot of fun. The console area was packed and we had a pretty full BYOC. You all consumed all of our soda and pizza and had to go get more!
The night started off right on time with a bunch of the pc gamers getting there right when we opened the doors. The byoc filled up pretty quick and we were off fragging in no time!
I saw a lot of people taking photos. If you have some good ones you want to share, please add them to our facebook group or post a link to them in our forums. We are still working on gathering the photos that staff took and they will be available on the web soon.
We want to hear from you all about what we should do for are next event. We will be posting details about our next event in the next couple of weeks.
Please thank our sponsors for the great prizes we were able to give away:
Razer,
CPU Magazine,
Bawls Guarana, Velocity Micro,
Alienware, ATI/AMD, Einstein Bagels, Popcap Games
